Clinical Support Assistant - Transplantation Center

Position Summary

At Stony Brook Medicine, this Clinical Support Assistant is a valuable member of our team, who provides administrative and executive support and has the ability to interface with all levels of management throughout the hospital. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior communication and organization skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Duties of this Clinical Support Assistant may include but are not limited to the following:

  • Perform administrative support duties for transplant administrator and transplant coordinators
  • Schedule pre transplant appointments, donor evaluation appointments and follow-up appointments with other services as needed
  • Maintain IDX, answer telephone calls, and update departmental telephone lists
  • Call laboratories, radiology offices, referring physicians and consulting physicians to obtain medical records for patient being evaluated, patients on the kidney waitlist and living donors
  • Complete written correspondence to patients, donors and outside providers as directed by clinical staff
  • Proficient in Cerner, Power chart, Eclipse
  • Maintain current knowledge with ICD-10, CPT coding, and HIPPA compliant
  • Conduct initial screening for potential living donors
  • Assist with chart review, data collection and data analysis as directed by the transplant administrator
  • Fax correspondence
  • Triage patient phone calls to appropriate staff members
  • All other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

Associate degree. At least 2 years related experience in an administrative capacity. Experience in MS Office Suite inclusive of Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Office management skills, medical terminology, and proficiency in computer skills. *****Please Note:******Verification of degree (e.g., diploma or official transcript) is required for this role. Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working in a medical office including appointment setting and patient communication.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The salary range (or hiring range) for this position is $45,372 - $58,366 / year.
