Clinical Teacher in Restorative Dentistry

About the Role

We are looking for a Clinical Teacher in Restorative Dentistry to join the Institute of Dentistry at Queen Mary University of London. The role involves delivering high-quality teaching and supervision in clinical and simulated settings, supporting students through teaching, assessment, and pastoral care. You will also contribute to student engagement activities and the smooth running of our undergraduate programmes.

About You

You must hold a BDS or equivalent registerable dental qualification and be fully registered with the General Dental Council. Significant post-graduate clinical experience is required, including general professional training and work in Restorative Dentistry (including urgent care). Strong communication skills, experience supporting undergraduate teaching, and an understanding of student support needs are essential, along with good IT skills and the ability to work well in a team. Teaching experience at undergraduate or postgraduate level and engagement in dental education scholarship are desirable but not essential.

About the School/Department/Institute/Project

The Institute of Dentistry, part of Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, is a leading centre for dental education and research. Our close integration with Barts Health NHS Trust provides an excellent environment for teaching and learning, ensuring students are well prepared for clinical practice.

About Queen Mary

At Queen Mary University of London, we believe that a diversity of ideas helps us achieve the previously unthinkable. Throughout our history, we’ve fostered social justice and improved lives through academic excellence. And we continue to live and breathe this spirit today, not because it’s simply ‘the right thing to do’ but for what it helps us achieve and the intellectual brilliance it delivers. We continue to embrace diversity of thought and opinion in everything we do, in the belief that when views collide, disciplines interact, and perspectives intersect, truly original thought takes form.

Benefits

We offer competitive salaries, access to a generous pension scheme, 30 days’ leave per annum (pro-rata for part-time/fixed-term), a season ticket loan scheme and access to a comprehensive range of personal and professional development opportunities. In addition, we offer a range of work life balance and family friendly, inclusive employment policies, campus facilities and flexible working arrangements. The post is based at the Whitechapel Campus. It is part-time (7 hours per week), permanent appointment. The salary will be Pre-2009 Clinical Lecturer, in the range of £45,943-£82,701 per annum (pro-rata), inclusive of London Allowance. Queen Mary’s commitment to our diverse and inclusive community is embedded in our appointments processes. Reasonable adjustments will be made at each stage of the recruitment process for any candidate with a disability. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to work flexibly. Informal enquiries should be addressed to Radhika Desai at radhika.desai@qmul.ac.uk.
