Clinical Trial Manager

Clinical Trial Manager

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Oxford Vaccine Group in the Department of Paediatrics as our Clinical Trial Manager. You will play an important role in the management of our clinical trials and will contribute to vaccine development. This may be an excellent opportunity for an experienced researcher considering a career change into Clinical Trial Management.

You will be responsible for the planning and managing set-up and delivery activities across a large diverse portfolio of clinical trials and provide effective trial management through great communication and organisational skills.

You will be working in a growing department within the Medical Sciences Division. The Department of Paediatrics is a world leader in child health research and hosts internationally renowned research programmes in drug development, gastroenterology, haematology, HIV, immunology, neuroimaging, neuromuscular diseases and vaccinology. The Oxford Vaccine Group under the lead of Professor Sir Andrew Pollard has the mission to improve health through immunisation, using expertise in scientific discovery, and the development, clinical testing and laboratory evaluation of vaccines; and to share this knowledge.

This position is offered full-time on a fixed-term contract initially for 12 months with the possibility to extend provided further external funding is available. The role requires on site working at least four days per week, remote working can be facilitated one day a week.

The Department of Paediatrics holds the Athena Swan Gold award (a national gender equality charter) acknowledging the innovative policies and practices developed across the department. We encourage staff to develop their skills by offering all staff ten paid days of professional development each year and have a policy where staff can apply to receive funding for further training.

We welcome new staff with ideas who are willing to shape the future of the department that thinks about its staff and wellbeing. In addition to the University of Oxford wellbeing resources, the Department of Paediatrics sponsors weekly exercise classes such as yoga and bootcamp sessions as well as a choir. For staff on work visas, we also offer financial assistance towards visa renewal fees. These activities are designed to promote physical and mental wellbeing among staff members.

The successful candidate must be educated to degree level or have previous trials experience. You will ideally have experience of project management in a clinical environment, including applications to regulatory authorities within the UK. This role requires a person with strong organisational skills, experience in managing many complex projects and the ability to work both independently, but also with team members and collaborators at all levels.

You will be required to upload a CV and Supporting Statement as part of your online application. The Supporting Statement should include a cover letter and should also clearly describe how you meet each of the selection criteria listed in the job description. Only online applications received before 12.00 midday on Friday 22nd August 2025 will be considered.
