Clinical Trial Manager

About This Opportunity

Join a purpose‑driven research team working to improve outcomes for women with cancer. The Queensland Centre for Gynaecological Cancer, based within the UQ Centre for Clinical Research at The University of Queensland, is expanding and seeking a Clinical Trial Manager to support a growing portfolio of gynaecological oncology studies.

Located at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital campus in Herston, this role will lead the coordination and operational delivery of multi‑centre investigator‑initiated clinical trials, from feasibility and start‑up through to study management and delivery. Working closely with investigators, trial coordinators and research leadership, you will play a key role in ensuring trials are delivered efficiently while supporting increased patient recruitment nationally and internationally.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead trial governance and compliance – Prepare HREC and research governance submissions, manage Trial Master Files, and ensure all trials comply with study protocols, SOPs, ICH/GCP and institutional policies.
  • Oversee clinical trial operations – Manage patient recruitment, data and biospecimen collection, investigational product accountability, and maintain study‑specific trial management systems.
  • Coordinate stakeholders and external partners – Engage with investigators, CROs, vendors, and project teams, including organising meetings, trainings, and progress reporting on site activation, enrolment, safety, and monitoring.
  • Build strong clinical partnerships – Liaise with prospective surgeons and clinical sites to present trial opportunities, strengthen relationships, and secure participation.
  • Supervise trial staff and support their development.
  • Support data quality – Perform data reviews, resolve queries, contribute to reporting, with occasional interstate and international site visits as required.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably a Bachelor’s or Masters/Postgraduate qualification (or progress towards) in health, science or related field, with significant management experience and training in clinical trials and clinical research; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Strong experience in the project management of complex and/or global trials, with 2-3 years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Strong experience conducting clinical trials in accordance with GCP methodology.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Australian and international regulatory requirements for clinical trials and clinical research.
  • Experience in feasibility analyses, budget development/management, site start up and all aspects of trial management through to close-out activities.
  • Highly collaborative with good stakeholder management skills, strategic thinking and analytical skills, along with strong organisational and planning skills.
  • Proficiency with clinical trial management systems and an ability to learn new systems as required.
