Position Summary
At Stony Brook Medicine the Clinical Value Analyst Collaborates with the Value Analysis Director in creating methods to reduce costs throughout the hospital regarding supply expense. Researches and prepares product cost and usage analysis utilizing data obtained through hospital systems and external organizations.
Presents data and works with faculty for better understanding of cost efficiency opportunities regarding supplies while maintaining optimum health care to patients. Communicates with supply vendors and determines appropriate strategies to obtain best prices. Follows up post implementation to ensure savings opportunities have been achieved as forecasted
Functions as the clinical recall coordinator for SBUH.
Duties of a Clinical Value Analyst may include the following but are not limited to:
- Develop, analyze and provide analytical reports based on clinical and financial data as needed
- Creates forecasts for savings opportunities including reviews of pricing tiers.
- Compares savings opportunities among the GPOs.
- Manage trial and evaluation projects directly with physicians, nurses and other clinical staff relating to cost savings initiatives
- Initiates corrective action for clinical staff product concerns as needed
- Represents the Supply Chain division at inter departmental meetings
- Functions as the clinical recall coordinator for the hospital
- Helps to initiate and plan clinical product changes
- Works with purchasing and receiving/stores to identify appropriate clinical product substitutions for backorder and or discontinued clinical products
- Acts as the facilitator for the Pediatric Products Committee
- Functions as the clinical recall coordinator for SBUH.
- Proposes cost savings opportunities through changing products or through utilization reduction.
- Coordinates with Nursing Education for new product introductions.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing
- At least 5 years' clinical experience
- MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong communication and analytical skills.
- Current NYS Registered Nurse
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master's Degree, Business Degree
- Critical Care

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position is - $104040 - $124848 / year.
The above salary range represents SBUH's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. The specific salary offer will be based on the candidate's validated years of comparable experience. Any efforts to inflate or misrepresent experience are grounds for disqualification from the application process or termination of employment if hired.
Some positions offer annual supplemental pay such as:
- Location pay for UUP full-time positions ($4000)
