The Veterinary Medical Center at The Ohio State University is searching for a Veterinary Care Assistant. The Veterinary Assistant provides operational and patient care support for the patients at the OSU Veterinary Medical Center - Dublin Urgent Care.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians with the assessment and treatment of patients.
- Assisting with various procedures.
- Providing client education such as home care instructions, medication overview, general wellness updates on hospitalized patients, processing lab samples, radiographic procedures and filling prescriptions.
Position requires detailed knowledge of biological parameters and the ability to differentiate normal and abnormal values; knowledge of restraint techniques as well as triage practices is necessary.
Must be knowledgeable and comfortable with acquiring vitals on stable patients and documenting appropriate information in the medical record. Working knowledge of equipment and set-up procedures in a veterinary setting is required. Excellent communications skills are required. Must be able to maintain a clean and efficient working area. Position includes basic cleaning duties such as dust mopping, wet mopping, laundry, and trash removal. Veterinary Assistant will cross train to be able to work in Client Services as needed. Ability to lift at least 50 pounds. Position will work 40 hours per week with hours primarily on second shift to include alternating weekends with required holidays based on team rotation. Hours will be eligible for shift differential. Position requires the successful completion of a background check.
Hiring Range: $18.00 - $20.74
Minimum Qualifications:
High School diploma or GED. Certification or vocational training may be preferred. 1 year of relevant experience required. 2-4 years of relevant experience preferred.
