Overview

SHARE's purpose is to lead and support campus efforts to address interpersonal violence and abuse. The office provides emergency response, intervention, and care to student survivors of sexual harassment, sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, and stalking. We also work closely with a network of campus and community partners to foster a University environment that is intolerant of abuse, responsive to needs of survivors, and holds perpetrators accountable for their actions. We aim to contribute to a campus culture in which interpersonal violence has no place and our distinctive community of learning is free to flourish.

The SHARE clinician provides direct trauma-informed clinical services and advocacy to our undergraduate and graduate student populations, including crisis intervention, urgent care, short-term individual and group psychotherapeutic treatment, campus and community referrals, and participation in the SHARE on call rotation. The SHARE clinician also serves as a representative of the SHARE office, providing presentations and other forms of outreach to the campus community to promote SHARE as a resource and educate about interpersonal violence and abuse broadly, including risks and protective factors of perpetration and victimization, impact of trauma, linkages to oppression, etc.

This position is temporary.

Responsibilities

Clinical (80%)

• Delivers developmentally appropriate, evidence-informed and trauma-sensitive services to survivors of interpersonal violence and abuse, including sexual harassment, sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking, as well as unhealthy relationships more broadly.
• Provides short-term counseling, advocacy and care coordination to scheduled and walk-in clients. Schedule may include evening hours and is subject to change depending on client and organizational needs.
• Provides psychoeducational and/or therapeutic support groups for students directly and indirectly affected by interpersonal violence.
• Provides suicide risk screening as clinically indicated and makes appropriate referrals to crisis response resources.
• Serves as a confidential advocate for victims/survivors as a member of the SHARE staff on-call crisis response team, covering evening and weekend hours on a rotating schedule
• Maintains electronic health records in a timely and effective manner.
• Provides effective consultations to University-affiliated individuals seeking general knowledge about interpersonal violence and abuse (e.g., warning signs, lethality indicators) and available resources.
• Represents the SHARE office as a member of ad hoc committees or permanent multi-disciplinary teams to advocate for trauma-informed and equitable care on behalf of clients and the campus community more broadly.
• Engages in Quality Improvement and Peer Review processes to ensure the provision of high-quality services.

Outreach (20%)

• Collaborates with SHARE leadership, SHARE staff, and other campus offices (e.g., Title IX) to develop outreach presentations and supplementary materials.
• Facilitates presentations to campus community stakeholders to clarify and promote the services provided by the SHARE office and educate about interpersonal violence and abuse, with a special attention given to first year undergraduate students, student leaders, graduate students, international students and SHARE peers.
• Contributes to the development of the SHARE Office’s social media messaging to uplift psycho-educational materials, group offerings, and statements of care to the community.

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

• Master’s degree or doctorate in social work, psychology, or related clinical field from an accredited college or university.
• Possesses terminal license in the state of NJ or license-eligible in NJ.
• 3-5 years of professional experience providing trauma-informed counseling for survivors of interpersonal violence and abuse (preferably in a college setting).
• Possesses knowledge about the risk and protective factors that contribute to interpersonal violence.
• Utilizes an intersectional lens when supporting survivors, acknowledging cultural and systemic barriers to access and the intersectionality between identity-based oppressions and interpersonal violence.
• Proven ability to support survivors in a manner that respects a diversity of experiences across a range of ethnic/racial identities, religious affiliation and practices, socioeconomic statuses, sexual orientations, and gender identities.
• Able to handle sensitive and confidential matters with discretion.
• Operates with a high degree of professionalism and objectivity.
• Demonstrates the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders (including student, faculty and administrative constituencies), and to build and maintain effective, trusting relationships over time.
• Has advanced written and verbal communication skills and experience with small and large group facilitation.
• Demonstrates competence in managing after-hours on-call responsibilities, assessing for psychiatric hospitalization, and making appropriate referrals to crisis response resources.
• Demonstrates competence in using an evidence-based approach to diagnosis and treatment, and using best practices in time-limited psychotherapy.
• Demonstrates a talent for collaboration, team-building, and working within a team-based model.
• Is well-organized, composed under pressure, and able to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
• Able to balance strong commitment to social justice with a capacity to navigate complex organizational systems.
• Is detail-oriented and solution-focused, capable of delivering work products aligned with the guiding principles of SHARE, UHS, and Princeton University.
• Is knowledgeable in principles and methodologies (e.g., Plan-Do-Study-Act, Root Cause Analysis, measurement, data collection, and analysis) needed to support and lead Quality Improvement projects and activities and/or willing to attend UHS-based Quality Improvement basic training within first 6-months of hire.
• Respects the cultures and identities of all.
• Demonstrates curiosity and open mindset regarding all identities and cultures.
• Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of New Jersey and federal statutes and regulations pertaining to sexual assault, domestic/dating violence, and stalking.
• Specialty or expertise in providing clinical or community-based services to a variety of populations.
• Prior training as a county-based confidential sexual assault and domestic violence victims advocate in New Jersey.
• Experience with electronic health records.
• Familiarity with quality improvement methodology.
• Familiarity with total work systems (such as the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care, and Baldrige National Quality Program); and reviewing and analyzing data.
