Location: Saïd Business School, Park End Street, Oxford and Egrove Park, Kennington

Salary: Grade 4: £28,437 - £32,108 per annum pro rata including the Oxford University weighting of £1,730 per annum pro rata

Contract: Fixed-term (to 31 July 2027), part time (21.9 hours per week / 0.6 FTE)

Are you highly organised, detail-oriented and passionate about supporting teaching and research in a world-class academic environment? The Sainsbury Library at Saïd Business School is seeking a Collections and Instructional Materials Assistant to support the development and delivery of high-quality collections and reading list services.

Working under the guidance of the Collections and Instructional Materials Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the library’s print and digital collections meet the needs of students, faculty and researchers. You will support the delivery of accurate and timely reading lists, contribute to collection development and provide excellent frontline customer service.

This is a varied role that involves close collaboration with colleagues across the Bodleian Libraries, as well as with Saïd Business School faculty and administrative teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Review programme reading lists against library holdings and ensure copyright compliance
  • Liaise with programme teams to ensure reading lists are accurate, referenced and delivered on time
  • Order, process and manage acquisitions and withdrawals of books and journals
  • Provide excellent frontline service as part of a staffed rota
  • Handle circulation tasks including issuing, returns, renewals, reservations and fines

You will have strong bibliographic skills and a solid understanding of copyright and compliance requirements in an academic environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to engage positively with staff, students and library users. The role requires a methodical and detail-oriented approach, with the ability to follow and improve workflows, prioritise tasks and adapt to changing demands.
