College of Veterinary Medicine- Assistant or Associate Professor of Diagnostic Imaging

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences of the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine, invites applications for a full-time tenure-track or full-time or part-time clinical-track faculty position in veterinary diagnostic imaging. The position is at the Assistant, Associate or Professor level.

The successful candidate is expected to engage in the departmental mission by participating in the teaching, service, and scholarship programs of the College. Responsibilities may include clinical, didactic, and laboratory teaching of small animal surgery to professional students, interns, and residents; participation in continuing education at local and national levels; providing mentorship to residents; and contributing to the clinical or basic science research program depending on the desired effort allocation.

Imaging equipment at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine includes one large animal and two small animal radiology rooms equipped with digital radiography; digital fluoroscopy; portable radiology units for the large animal field service; three ultrasound units; a 128-slice CT scanner; a 1.5T large bore MRI scanner, and a nuclear medicine suite with two gamma cameras. An interventional suite equipped with digital fluoroscopy and a state-of-the-art 3D printing lab are on-site. All imaging modalities are interfaced with a PACS system.

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences has more than 50 tenure and clinical-track faculty, including board-certified specialists in radiology, anesthesiology, surgery, internal medicine, emergency and critical care, cardiology, behavior, dermatology, dentistry, nutrition, oncology, ophthalmology, sports medicine and rehabilitation, and avian and zoological medicine.

The University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine boasts a collegial environment committed to mentoring new faculty to be successful in their academic career. This includes a Master Teaching Program, which provides resources, programs and leadership to support the highest quality of professionalism and instruction within the various educational missions of the college, and a Veterinary Social Work program that provides training and support in the areas of communication and conflict management, compassion fatigue, animal-related grief and bereavement, and mindfulness-based stress reduction. New faculty are assigned an experienced faculty mentor, and the Department has an excellent record in helping clinical faculty successfully earn promotion and tenure.

Requirements include a DVM/VMD or equivalent degree, completion of a formal residency training program in radiology/diagnostic imaging, and certification or eligibility for certification by the American College of Veterinary Radiology (ACVR) or the European College of Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging (ECVDI).
