Job Summary:
The College of St. Scholastica has an opening for adjunct faculty to teach undergraduate introductory and intermediate courses in Ojibwe language and culture. Applicants with proven teaching skills at the college level are encouraged to apply.
Key Results/Responsibilities:
Teach beginning and intermediate Ojibwe language with the possibility of creating an advanced course in the language. Ability to teach additional courses in Native Studies if applicable.
Required Qualifications:
Candidate must hold an M.A. in Ojibwe language, and culture studies, a related field, or equivalent experience is required. Native or near-native fluency in Ojibwemowin and English is required. Possible areas of specialization include Education, Native American Studies, and Indigenous Art and Music.
The successful candidate will have teaching experience and demonstrate a dedication to working with diverse communities, specifically tribal communities. First-hand knowledge of traditional belief systems in Ojibwe communities is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ph.D./Ed.D. (preferred) in Ojibwemowin, Linguistics, or a closelyrelated field. Experience teaching in higher education.
