Job Description:

  • Fixed-Term (until January 2027), Full-Time
  • Strategic Engagement Directorate
  • CQUniversity Cairns, Rockhampton or Mackay
  • Higher Education Worker Level 7
  • Total Remuneration $121,744 to $131,995 pa (including salary of $102,876 to $111,538 plus 17% superannuation and leave loading)

CQUniversity is seeking a talented Communications Coordinator (Reputation and Impact) to help amplify the transformative work of our University across Australia and beyond.

As a key member of the Strategic Engagement Directorate, you will play a pivotal role in elevating CQUniversity’s reputation by showcasing our life-changing work in social innovation, research excellence, philanthropy, and community engagement. You’ll craft compelling narratives that highlight how CQUniversity is transforming lives, communities, and industries. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and implement innovative communication strategies to enhance CQUniversity’s visibility and reputation.
  • Identify and tell powerful stories that showcase the University’s transformative impact across research, community, and industry.
  • Create engaging, multi-channel content tailored to diverse audiences, including students, staff, stakeholders, and the public.
  • Deliver expert advice on communication strategy, messaging, and media engagement to internal stakeholders.
  • Track and report on communication effectiveness to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with strategic goals.

Position Requirements

  • A degree in business, journalism, professional communication, public relations or marketing.
  • A strong understanding of social media platforms, and of digital engagement strategies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and networking skills, with the confidence to represent the University in professional and public forums.
  • Proven experience in developing tailored content to diverse audiences via different communication channels.
  • A strong understanding of corporate communications principles including staff and external stakeholder engagement.
  • Possession of, or eligibility to obtain, a valid Blue Card (Working with Children clearance).
  • Experience in creating multimedia content, such as podcasts, videos, and infographics, to support storytelling and engagement objectives (Desirable).
