Computer Science And Information Systems (Csis) Faculty, Tenure Track
Job Summary
Regular/contract instructors participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs, courses and other experiences that will directly result in the educational growth of the students and support advancement of the visions, missions and values of the college and District. This position may include a combination of day and evening assignments, large lectures and small seminars, and is being offered by a college strongly committed to the 'open door' concept serving a diverse student population. Instructors will be expected to perform other duties consistent with their faculty job description as stated in the faculty contract.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria:
- Master's in computer science or computer engineering
- Bachelor's in either of the above AND Master's in mathematics, cybernetics, business administration, accounting or engineering
- Bachelor's in engineering AND Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration
- Bachelor's in mathematics AND Master's in cybernetics, engineering, mathematics, or business administration
- Bachelor's degree in any of the above AND a Master's degree in information science, computer information systems, or information systems
- The equivalent.
If applying based on 'the equivalent,' complete an Equivalency Determination Form.
Necessary Qualifications
Solid experience in one or more of the following areas:
- a. Data Science
- b. Modern Database design and development (SQL and/or NoSQL)
- c. Blockchain technologies
- d. Cloud Computing, Embedded Systems, Internet of Things or related technologies
- e. Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence
- f. Robotics
- g. Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality
- h. Networking technologies and systems administration
- i. Cybersecurity
- j. Modern Programming Languages and/or Web Development technologies
- k. Information Technology
- l. Information Systems
- Experience and proficiency in teaching or training preferably at the college level, and in the computer field, using a variety of instructional methods.
- Written and oral communication skills to effectively interact with students, staff members and co-workers.
Preferred Qualifications
- Interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact effectively with students, co-workers, industry leaders and administrators.
- Demonstrated commitment to remain current on issues within the industry and education.
- Curriculum planning, program development and leadership abilities.
- Experience working with credit and/or non-credit courses and programs.
- Commitment to the philosophy of the community college.
- Experience that demonstrates successful, active participation in community and/or professional organizations and institutions of higher education
- Participation in professional development training and/or industry-based certifications.
- Sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Starting Salary Range: $70,559 (Class II, Step 6) - $97,415 (VII, Step 10) Annually for a 10-month contract
Anticipated Start Date: August 2026
Location: San Diego County - Grossmont College, El Cajon, California
