"Continuing Contract Faculty in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering"

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for two full-time, teaching-oriented, non-tenured, continuing contract faculty positions in Mechanical Engineering, at the rank of Industry Assistant Professor, with a start date as early as January 1, 2025. The primary responsibilities include classroom and laboratory teaching and project/thesis mentoring in Robotics and Embodied Artificial Intelligence (AI). The successful candidate should be an excellent teacher with research experience in robotics and embodied AI fields, and must mentor projects/theses for our MS program in Robotics and undergraduate courses in our Robotics minor.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in engineering or science closely related to Robotics, such as mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, aerospace engineering, industrial engineering, or civil engineering. They must demonstrate a solid understanding of fundamental areas in robotics (perception & sensing, planning & control, learning, and design), with strong hands-on experience being a plus. Candidates should show potential for excellence in teaching, mentoring, scholarship, leadership, and curricular innovation.

The position primarily involves teaching robotics courses per semester. While research is not required, candidates may engage in funded research if desired, utilizing departmental resources. The initial appointment is 2-3 years and renewable. Ideal candidates include postdocs or research fellows in robotics.
