Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, the Contract Specialist performs a variety of activities associated with service and maintenance contract preparation for execution, monitoring, and compliance. The Contract Specialist has oversight of multiple, concurrent agreements and/or contracts and performs related work as required.
- Review contract terms and conditions to verify that they are in compliance with College policies and procedures, and all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
- Ensure that the terms of contractual agreements are written in language that is binding and in accordance with College policies.
- Confirm adherence to all College procurement policies and procedures prior to processing contracts for execution.
- Collaborate with internal clients, management, and vendors to ensure clear and compliant language in all contracts. Serve as the primary liaison with outside vendor contracting representatives. Assist internal clients to fulfill the terms of or to terminate contracts on mutually amicable terms.
- Interact regularly with the Director of Business Services and Vice President of Administrative Affairs regarding contract execution.
- Consult with the College's General Counsel as appropriate. Act as administrator for all College contract systems and databases. Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education
- Associate Degree in such areas as law, contract administration, business, finance, or procurement required.
- Bachelor Degree in business, law, or finance preferred.
Experience
- Minimum of three (3) years working in a public or private business environment with exposure to procurement processes required.
- Two (2) years contract administration or procurement experience preferred.
- Must have knowledge of current and legally binding contractual language and terminology.
- Ability to identify, analyze, and suggest solutions for problems, complaints, and client/vendor concerns.
- Excellent oral and written communications and interpersonal skills.
- Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask on several projects simultaneously.
Clear adherence to College policies and procurement rules and regulations. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Personal computer, telephone, multifunction devices. This position required a background check and drug screen.
Pay Grade:
Classified 11 Salary/ Starting salary beginning at $31.87 hourly based on education and experience.
Competitive starting salaries are dependent on education and experience. College of DuPage also offers a generous benefits plan.
