Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $62,300 - Midpoint: $81,000 (Salaried E10)

Job Summary:

The Contract Specialist I ensures contract compliance with applicable laws, University policies, and best practices.

Additional Department Summary:

Interprets and negotiates purchasing contracts on behalf of the University in conjunction with applicable laws, University policies, and best practices. Interprets contractual provisions and identifies issues regarding insurance, indemnity, dispute resolution, and other risk factors. Recommends acceptable solutions to unfavorable risk factors and other associated legal matters that align with the University’s position and goals. Manages the collaborative review process with other campus stakeholders through completion.

Required Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of contract management, negotiation, development, and/or compliance experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of contract management, negotiation, development, and/or compliance; OR juris doctorate and some experience in contract management, negotiation, development, and/or compliance experience.

Skills and Knowledge:

Broad knowledge and thorough understanding of contract management and the legal aspects of contracting.

Preferred Qualifications:

History of increasing workplace responsibility and experience, preferably in an institution of higher education's Contract Management or Purchasing department. Significant knowledge of business law, compliance, and contract management. A JD, CPPM, CPPO, or equivalent certification.
