Contracts & Grants Analyst 1
The UCR School of Medicine's Sponsored Research & Programs (SRP) Department is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Contracts & Grants Analyst 1 to support faculty and researchers in both pre-award and post-award administration of sponsored projects. Under close supervision and as part of a collaborative team, the incumbent will assist with the preparation, review, and submission of research proposals to a variety of sponsors, including federal and state agencies, private foundations, and industry partners. This entry-level role will also support post-award functions by performing financial reconciliation, monitoring expenditures, assisting with reporting requirements, and ensuring compliance with sponsor and university guidelines. The position offers a valuable opportunity to gain experience in research administration while supporting the School of Medicine's mission to advance health through research, education, and community engagement. This position is a hybrid schedule, with three days on site and two days remote.
Requirements:
- Educational Requirements: Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required).
- Experience Requirements: 0-1 years of related experience (Required); Experience reading, analyzing and interpreting contractual language (Preferred); Experience in fund accounting at a University (Preferred).
- Minimum Requirements: Organization and communication skills; Ability to perform routine financial analysis; Proficiency with computer systems; Ability to thrive in a busy environment; Ability to learn compliance requirements.
- Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of accounting principles; Writing skills; Ability to maintain knowledge of compliance regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and develop grant proposals under supervision (25%).
- Assist with ledger reconciliation (15%).
- Provide post-award financial administration (10%).
- Interpret regulations and prepare reports (10%).
- Analyze expenses and develop cost projections (10%).
- Establish contract and grant fund accounts and provide guidance on reporting (10%).
- Assist with planning departmental activities (10%).
- Ensure internal controls are maintained (5%).
- Assist with developing grant budgets and preparing documentation (5%).
