CONTRACTS OFFICER-ACAD RESRCH ORG-CLIN TRIALS

General Responsibilities:
The Contracts Officer-ARO-CT position is responsible for reviewing, editing, routing, negotiating, and executing industry-sponsored and investigator-initiated clinical trials. The ARO-CT officer will represent the University in negotiating terms and conditions of clinical trial agreements with industry sponsors. ARO-CT officers will assist faculty researchers with contractual matters related to clinical trial agreements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for effectively managing the UAB clinical trial portfolio which includes clinical trial agreements, confidentiality agreements, study start-up agreements, master agreements, data use agreements, amendments, work orders, and no cost extensions.
2. Ensure institutional Time to Activation (TTA) standards for CT related agreements are consistently met.
3. Draft, review and revise clinical trial agreements including complex agreements; assesses and manages associated risks, identifying potentially objectionable terms and conditions and determining appropriate language to ensure best position for University.
4. Ensure that agreements comply with University policies and procedures and federal, state, local and international regulations and laws.
5. Efficiently and effectively negotiates terms and conditions of agreements with third party sponsors. Update applicable information systems, including myUABResearch frequently with detailed progress reports to ensure effective transparency to the UAB research community.
6. Performs other duties as assigned

Salary Pay Range: $57,940 - $94,150

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration, Science, or related field and five (5) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for the education requirement.
