SUMMARY
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a professional position responsible for assisting in the
operations and programming of the Center for Career Education and
Exploration. Responsible for coordinating career development
programs for students, conducting student appointments, leading
presentations related to departmental services and student
professional development, planning events and workshops, developing
and implementing marketing strategies, and supervising assigned
student and graduate assistants. Works under general supervision,
with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent
judgment. Reports to the Assistant Director.
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in business, communications, public relations,
counseling, psychology, or a related area is required. Related
experience may be substituted for required education on a basis set
forth by the Department of Human Resources.
One year of related experience is required. Experience related to
student development, coordinating programs and activities, event
planning, education and/or public speaking is preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Coaches students regarding job search strategies and job search
skill development including professional document preparation,
interview techniques, networking, and employer research.
Plans and delivers educational programs and services.
Coordinates and delivers career-related presentations,
programs, and events to the campus community.
Coordinates and/or collaborates with college staff to support
campus-wide and college-specific career initiatives.
Markets departmental services to students, employers, alumni,
faculty, and staff.
Engages with employer recruiters to connect them with students
through career fairs, online career management platforms, and other
resources.
Assists with developing departmental learning and development
outcomes and tools for collecting data.
Prepares and analyzes various special, quarterly, monthly, and
ad hoc reports.
Supervises and trains assigned student and graduate
assistants.
Stays abreast of national, state, and local hiring practices,
employment trends, and other labor related issues.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- May assist with special projects, including career events, job
fairs, and orientation.
- May assist with maintaining departmental website and career
management platforms.
- May represent the department and university on various
committees, in professional organizations, and at
meetings/conferences.
- May receive and/or supervise the receipt of payments from
students and others for departmentally sponsored activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and
abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual
can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without
reasonable accommodation.

- Skill in using computer applications including spreadsheet,
database, and word processing software.
