Job Summary

This position coordinates all organizational outreach, marketing, and public relations initiatives for the College of Education and Human Development (COEHD). It collaborates with COEHD leadership and Augusta University's Department of Communications and Marketing (C&M) to strategize story coverage, marketing campaigns, events, and social media content management. The coordinator supports strategy and execution across multiple platforms and analytics. They will work with AU C&M to develop email and digital marketing campaigns, create social media campaigns, and write and publish news stories, feature stories, web content, and marketing materials.

Responsibilities

The duties include, but are not limited to:

INTERNAL/EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING SUPPORT:

  • Develop and implement marketing plans for programs, degrees, departments, certificates, centers, and conferences
  • Create, produce, and distribute Deans Notes and COEHD Year in Review.
  • Create, produce, and distribute brochures/postcards that highlight offerings in the College
  • Work with University Public Relations, Office of Advancement, and Office of Alumni Affairs to highlight the success of the College
  • Manage print and electronic communications
  • Coordinate COEHD communications with Enterprise initiatives/efforts
  • Works with program managers to lead the development and implementation of outreach materials that help to raise awareness and increase enrollment
  • Oversees design, production, and distribution of flyers, brochures, and other publications or promotional materials
  • Manages brand awareness of nonprofit and programmatic brands, including guidelines, color usage, and programmatic language requirements
  • Working with AU DCM and internal stakeholders, coordinates all website development and content management for the organization

INNOVATIVE SOCIAL MEDIA IDEAS TO PROMOTE THE COLLEGE:

  • Updates and maintains COEHD website and calendar of events
  • Create and manage social media calendars with content for multi-channel distribution and expand the company's social media presence
  • Play key role in developing and implementing strategies to engage online audiences, increase brand awareness, generate inbound traffic, and enhance community engagement
  • Measure and provide regular reports on the performance of digital marketing campaigns and website analytics
  • Public relations support
  • Coordinates all outreach and public relations initiatives for the organization
  • Working with the AU DCM, writes and distributes public service announcements, press releases, and informational packets
  • Works with the Dean and leadership team to develop and implement outreach goals and initiatives.
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive list of press, media, and community communication mediums
  • Working with AU DCM, coordinates media relations efforts, establishes and maintains contact with key media personnel

DEVELOP AND MAINTAIN ALUMNI RELATIONS:

  • Collaborate with Alumni Affairs on COEHD Alumni database
  • Support and adapt alumni communication plan to keep alumni abreast of successes, programs, and certificates in the COEHD
  • Develop COEHD alumni society boards, schedule meetings, and maintain minutes of the meetings
  • Liaison in COE development board, consisting of faculty, staff, alumni, and business leaders, schedule meetings, and maintain minutes of the meetings
  • Coordinate events for Alumni Weekend

COORDINATE SPECIAL EVENTS FOR THE COEHD:

  • Development of scripts, slideshows, etc.
  • Announcements and acknowledgements
  • Arrange and coordinate volunteer opportunities
  • Photograph events in the COE to place on websites and social media
  • Oversees all outreach/marketing initiatives for special events
  • Attends functions on behalf of the organization for purposes of recording and collecting content (e.g. video, phots, etc.) for sharing and expanding engagement and outreach in organizational programs and resources

PUBLIC RELATIONS SUPPORT:

  • Coordinates all outreach and public relations initiatives for the organization
  • Working with the AU DCM, writes and distributes public service announcements, press releases, and informational packets
  • Works with the Dean and leadership team to develop and implement outreach goals and initiatives
  • Develops and maintains a comprehensive list of press, media, and community communication mediums
  • Working with AU DCM, coordinates media relations efforts, establishes and maintains contact with key media personnel

OTHER DUTIES: Perform all other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Required Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism, Public Relations, Communications or related field.

Required Experience: Three (3) years of experience in media relations, public relations or a related field. Experience writing news releases, feature stories, talking points, statements and pitches.

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of Hootsuite, Canva, and Adobe Creative Cloud programs

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE

Proficient with Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases.
Strong written communication skills with Knowledge of AP style

Strong project management skills

High attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Flexible and adaptable to shifting priorities and schedules
Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

ABILITIES

Ability to maintain confidentiality and multi-task

Ability to prioritize and manage conflicting deadlines

Shift/Salary/Benefits

Shift: Days/M-F (Work outside of normal business hours may be required)

Pay Band: B9

Salary to be commensurate with the qualifications of the selected candidate within the established range (generally minimum midpoint) of the position.

Conditions of Employment
