Job Description:
- ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures, based in the Faculty of Business, Economics and Law
- Full-time (100%), fixed-term position for up to 3 years
- Base salary will be in the range $93,491.78 - $100,296.97 + 17% Superannuation (HEW Level 6)
- This position is open to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander candidates only, as a genuine occupational requirement to contribute to and support the Indigenous-led ARC Centre of Excellence for Indigenous Futures
- Based at our vibrant St Lucia Campus
About This Opportunity
The Coordinator, Community & Student Engagement will be key in driving the Centre’s Community Engagement Area of Responsibility (CEAR) and administering the ARC-IFC HDR Program. In this role you will foster and maintain relationships between Indigenous communities, the Centre’s researchers and Partner Organisations and will provide logistical and organisational administration for both the Centre-related community engagement activities and the ARC-IFC HDR program.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Community Engagement
- ARC-IFC HDR Program Administration
- Events, including some travel and out of hours work

About You
Genuine Occupational Requirement: The University of Queensland considers that to perform this role, it is essential that the person is an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander person. It is therefore a genuine occupational requirement under section 25 of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1991 (Qld).
The successful candidate will be required to provide evidence to confirm that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.
You will also demonstrate:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to develop strong collaborative working relationships at all levels, and liaise with stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience engaging and building relationships with the Indigenous community.
- A degree with subsequent relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Highly effective organisational and planning skills including excellent attention to detail and accuracy, the ability to use initiative, prioritise own workload, solve problems and meet strict deadlines.
- Working knowledge of University administrative systems, policies and procedures or the capacity to rapidly acquire this knowledge.
- Must have a positive attitude and display emotional intelligence and maturity: commitment to contributing to a supportive, friendly and dynamic team environment, as well as encouraging and demonstrating collaboration to achieve results. A high level of proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- A current Blue Card, or eligibility to quickly acquire one
The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, education check, criminal check etc.
