Job Description

The Coordinator, Dual Enrollment Advising serves as the primary academic advisor for all Dual Enrollment students, including Associate of Science (AS) in University Studies degree-seeking students. This role provides guidance to align students' long-term degree goals with dual enrollment course selection while coordinating advising responsibilities with the Dual Enrollment Advisor.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the lead academic advisor for dual enrollment students, including degree-seeking and non-degree-seeking students.
  • Advise home-schooled students with unique course needs, requiring collaboration with umbrella schools and parents.
  • Customize credits to fit high school requirements, student needs, and potential future majors.
  • Conduct advising sessions and assist with course registration for students each term sessions in-person, online, or via phone.
  • Coordinate visits with high schools served by APSU's dual enrollment program, assisting students with the DE application, registration, and TN Dual Enrollment Grant application.
  • Manage high school rosters from instructors and counselors to ensure proper registration and alignment with APSU course caps and minimum student enrollment needed for courses to make.
  • Request and process ACT and AP scores required for registration.
  • Analyze student holds and ineligibilities after course requests are submitted in Slate.
  • Approve course requests in Slate and make necessary adjustments.
  • Communicate with counselors regarding course and application approvals.
  • Monitor student achievement by reviewing midterm grade reports and notifying counselors of students earning a grade of C or below.
  • Notify counselors of academic alerts regarding student attendance, participation, and other concerns, referring students to academic support resources.
  • Communicate with students regarding academic progress.
  • Collaboration with instructors and departments for missing grades after submission deadlines.
  • Analyzing and submission of grade reports to high school counselors after midterm and final grades are submitted via ARGOS reporting.
  • Assist the Director in maintaining accurate documentation and compiling reports for compliance with SACSCOC, NACEP, THEC, TSAC, and APSU policies and procedures.
  • Support the Director in developing initiatives to sustain and enhance the program.
  • Oversee the use of student caseload management, communication, online appointment scheduling, enrollment campaigns, progress reports, and connecting students with support resources.
  • Build relationships with high schools to assess and address their specific needs to increase and maintain enrollment.
  • Travel to and from recruitment events such as preview days, college fairs, and high school visits.
  • Distribute APSU graduation information and monitor students' progress with graduation applications.
  • Attend and recognize students at high school graduation ceremonies for those earning an associate degree.
  • Oversee Federal Work-Study students, including approving timesheets, assisting with scheduling, and providing guidance on managing department-related tasks.
  • Assist off-site campus stakeholders and high school partners in coordinating dual enrollment logistics.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the needs of the Dual Enrollment program.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to interact in an effective and appropriate manner with the University community and the public.
  • Exceptional level of customer service skills.
  • Outstanding communication skills; both written and verbal

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in higher education setting. (Advising experience preferred).

Physical Requirements:

Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
