Coordinator, Faculty Teaching and Learning Center
Job Summary
The Faculty Development Coordinator leads complex faculty development programs and operations for the Faculty Teaching and Learning Center (FTLC). This position independently designs and manages logistics, communications, data tracking, and partnerships for faculty development initiatives, including New Faculty Orientation and ongoing professional development programming. The Coordinator 3 analyzes participation and operational data, develops reports and recommendations, and serves as a primary liaison with academic departments and campus partners to ensure effective, inclusive, and well-coordinated programming.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Program Leadership and Operations; Partnerships, Outreach, and Marketing (60%)
- Lead planning and logistical execution for FTLC faculty development programs, including New Faculty Orientation and recurring professional development initiatives.
- Determine and manage scheduling, room reservations, technology needs, timelines, and communication workflows for in-person, hybrid, and online programming.
- Establish and maintain operational timelines, procedures, and contingency plans to ensure effective program delivery.
- Provide strategic administrative and operational support to the FTLC Director and staff, including occasional evening and weekend event support.
- Design and maintain systems to track participation, engagement, and completion data for faculty development programs, ensuring accurate records for assessment, reporting, and compliance.
- Analyze participation trends, feedback, and operational data to identify challenges, efficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and present summaries, reports, and recommendations to FTLC leadership and campus partners to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Serve as the primary liaison with academic departments and campus offices to lead promotion and outreach strategies for faculty development opportunities.
- Collaborate with FTLC staff to design and disseminate marketing and communication materials, exercising independent judgment in tailoring messaging for varied faculty audiences and delivery contexts.
- Lead development and publication of weekly FTLC newsletter content using platforms such as Mailchimp.
- Oversee and manage FTLC website content updates and prioritize edit requests in collaboration with the FTLC Director.
- Establish and sustain collaborative relationships with other units providing faculty development to align messaging and identify opportunities for joint initiatives.
- Partner with faculty development colleagues and campus partners to plan and implement professional development offerings.
- Facilitate and evaluate faculty development programming, including workshops, faculty learning communities, and Canvas-based learning experiences.
- Support and advance initiatives focused on inclusive and culturally relevant teaching practices, including collaboration with the Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) Director and related partners.
New Faculty Orientation Leadership (10%)
- Serve as lead coordinator for assigned components of New Faculty Orientation, including designing logistical plans, communication strategies, and outreach timelines.
- Evaluate engagement and completion data for assigned orientation components and recommend improvements.
Adjunct Faculty Training Fund Coordination (15%)
- Oversee and maintain accurate records and documentation related to adjunct faculty training fund expenditures.
- Communicate eligibility criteria, processes, and deadlines to faculty and staff.
- Design and manage tracking tools to monitor fund usage, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and identification of trends.
- Partner with FTLC leadership to monitor compliance with institutional guidelines and recommend process improvements based on analysis.
Professional Development (10%)
- Maintain current knowledge related to teaching and learning in higher education, including inclusive teaching practices, student success strategies, and faculty development trends.
- Participate in ongoing professional development relevant to assigned responsibilities.
