Defiance College invites applications for the position of Coordinator of Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving. This key leadership position is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive alumni engagement and annual giving strategy designed to strengthen constituent relationships, increase philanthropic support, and enhance long-term engagement with the College.
Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Coordinator will work collaboratively across campus to build meaningful connections with alumni, students, parents, and friends. The successful candidate will leverage the strong affinity individuals have through academic, athletic, co-curricular, and student experiences to strengthen engagement, volunteerism, advocacy, and philanthropic support for Defiance College. Primary responsibilities include:
- Develop and implement comprehensive alumni engagement and annual giving strategies aligned with institutional priorities and goals.
- Build meaningful relationships with alumni through engagement opportunities, communications, volunteerism, and events.
- Develop programs that encourage lifelong alumni involvement and strengthen the transition from student to alumnus.
- Expand affinity-based engagement opportunities through academic programs, athletics, student organizations, regional connections, and other shared experiences.
- Manage annual fund solicitations and campaigns through multiple channels.
- Coordinate Giving Day campaigns, reunion giving, leadership annual giving initiatives, and fiscal year-end appeals.
- Develop strategies to increase donor participation, retention, acquisition, and philanthropic support.
- Identify and cultivate alumni and friends who may have potential for increased philanthropic involvement.
- Support the development of a sustainable pipeline for leadership annual giving, major gifts, and planned giving.
- Lead the planning and execution of alumni and donor engagement events, including Homecoming, regional events, networking opportunities, and stewardship activities.
- Recruit, train, and support alumni volunteers and ambassadors and collaborate with the Alumni Association Board and other volunteer leadership groups.
- Partner with Marketing and Communications to develop compelling communications, digital outreach, event promotion, and storytelling initiatives.
- Utilize the College's advancement CRM system to manage engagement activity, solicitation tracking, reporting, and constituent interactions.
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators, including participation rates, donor retention, event engagement, and campaign effectiveness.
- Supervise and coordinate event volunteers.
A bachelor's degree is required. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills, as well as the ability to manage multiple priorities and projects in a fast-paced environment. Experience with CRM systems or donor databases, such as Raiser's Edge, Salesforce, Jenzabar, Banner, or similar platforms, is preferred. Additional preferred experience includes alumni relations, annual giving, fundraising, communications, or higher education advancement, including managing annual giving campaigns, alumni engagement programs, volunteer or advisory groups, and digital engagement and fundraising platforms.
The successful candidate must demonstrate a commitment to confidentiality, professionalism, constituent service, and the mission and values of Defiance College. Occasional regional travel, evening, and weekend work will be required in support of alumni and advancement activities.
