Coordinator of Latinx Student Mental Health and Wellness

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at Oregon State University enthusiastically invites applications for a full-time, 12-month Coordinator of Latinx Student Mental Health & Wellness. The primary purpose of this position is to support the success of Latinx students at OSU through the provision of clinical services, consultation, outreach, programming, and advocacy. This individual will work collaboratively with community and university agencies that serve Latinx students. This work must be informed by a thorough and nuanced understanding of the unique lived experiences of Latinx students. The creation of this position is a part of CAPS’ ongoing commitment to centering the needs of underserved student populations in our community. As a member of the CAPS team, the Coordinator of Latinx Student Mental Health and Wellness also provides clinical services to the general OSU student population and may also provide training to CAPS’ doctoral interns and practicum trainees.

Required Qualifications

  • Masters of Social Work, Masters of Counseling, Masters of Marriage and Family Therapy, Doctorate in Psychology, or similar degree from a counseling/clinical accredited program. Eligible for licensure as LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, or doctorate in clinical/counseling psychology in the state of Oregon within 2 years of employment. Experience providing counseling/mental health services to Latinx clients.
  • Ability to clearly communicate & apply to practice knowledge of the mental health impacts of systemic racism on Latinx people.
  • Strong commitment and demonstrated ability to enact principles of social justice; navigate layers of identity experienced by Latinx students, including but not limited to race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, ability, religion, class, and nationality.
  • Experience providing outreach programming focused on the holistic mental health needs of Latinx people.
  • Ability to build trust and form community.
  • Understanding of, or experience providing brief therapeutic interventions. Experience balancing multiple simultaneous demands in a fast-paced work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Currently licensed as LPC, LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, or doctorate in clinical/counseling psychology. Two years of post-graduate professional counseling experience. Experience consulting/liaising with campus and/or community partners serving Latinx populations. Fluent in Spanish or Portuguese. Experience providing group therapy. Experience providing crisis assessment and support services for high-risk clients. This could include self-injurious behavior, suicide prevention, and homicide prevention.
