Job Summary

The Coordinator of Mental Health leads and coordinates the mental health unit at DRES which is responsible for providing individual therapy, support groups, and psychological assessments in conjunction with other mental health staff to support disabled students at the University of Illinois working with DRES. Supervises the Mental Health staff. Oversees the plan for training and supervision of the graduate hourly, practicum/internships for graduate students. Position may supervise doctoral students. The position leads DRES's ongoing efforts to maintain the highest quality of mental health care resources for disabled students with very diverse backgrounds and identities.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Supervise DRES mental health staff and coordinate the training and supervision of practicum students, predoctoral interns, postdocs, and academic hourly workers
  • Provide individual counseling/psychotherapy services for a diverse population of disabled students in a multi-culturally competent manner.
  • Supervises and supports clinical staff who administer psychological assessment area in DRES to include managing referrals, assessment of instruments and testing instruments, compose final evaluation reports, and data/record keeping, in addition to supervising assessments completed by trainees; provide feedback to supervisees administering assessments.
  • Provide group counseling/therapy through therapy groups that may include focus on specific mental health issue or need of a particular student group.
  • Review and update policy and procedures as necessary for the mental health unit as required by licensure, training guidelines, and state/federal regulations to maintain the highest standard of care.
  • Participate in outreach, training, and treatment team activities.
  • Participate in various DRES service, education, and research activities as well as division, college, and campus committees.
  • Participate in psychological emergency and trauma response.
  • Other duties as assigned.
