Coordinator of Student Life

The Coordinator of Student Life supports the development and assessment of Student Life and Civic Engagement programs at Florida Tech. Responsibilities include managing the Civic Engagement Initiative, supporting events such as Welcome Week, Family Weekend, Alternative Spring Break, Relay for Life, and University Experience Days, and supporting cross-cultural competency programming. The role also assists with large-scale events like Homecoming and Campus Activities Board initiatives, builds campus partnerships for Civic and National Volunteer Week, maintains the Dean of Students Office calendar, and performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Serve as part of the leadership team responsible for the development, implementation, and assessment of Student Life and Civic Engagement programs
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the Civic Engagement Initiative, including:
    • Academic service-learning
    • Campus-community partnerships and activities
    • Hours/dollars raised input process
  • Share responsibility with professional staff in coordinating:
    • Welcome Week
    • Additional theme weeks and educational programming
  • Support Family Weekend in collaboration with the Assistant Director of Student Engagement
  • Assist with Alternative Spring Break and Relay for Life
  • Manage and support the Civic Engagement tracking system
  • Build and maintain campus partnerships for Civic and National Volunteer Week
  • Coordinate University Experience Days (e.g., Civic Engagement and Cross Cultural Competency)
  • Assist with planning and implementation of cross-cultural competency programming
  • Help support the Campus Activities Board and Homecoming initiatives
  • Provide support for large-scale campus events
  • Serve as keeper of the Dean of Students Office calendar
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements Include:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent knowledge obtained through a combination of education, training and experience)
  • Minimum 0–2 years of relevant work experience required
  • Experience in student leadership development and student activities in higher education setting preferred
  • Strong commitment and previous success working within multicultural and diverse communities
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
  • Innovative thinker with a vision for providing high quality services to students
  • Computer skills which include the ability to use social media
  • Ability to work non-standard work hours, including evening and weekends
