Job Description

The Pediatric Anxiety Treatment Center at Hall-Mercer (PATCH) is a specialty clinic that represents a joint venture between the Penn Center for Mental health and the Hall-Mercer Community Mental Health clinic. PATCH therapists assess and treat children and adolescents with anxiety disorders and related disorders through evidence-based practices (cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure and response prevention (ERP), with a primary mission to serve youth in the Philadelphia public mental health system.

The Pediatric Anxiety Treatment Center at Hall-Mercer (PATCH) is looking for a bilingual (Spanish or Mandarin strongly preferred) license-eligible master's level clinician to join our team full-time. PATCH provides evidence-based assessment and treatment for youth ages 4-18 with anxiety and obsessive-compulsive-related disorders at Hall Mercer. PATCH is the only designated evidence-based practice center for exposure-based cognitive behavioral therapy (EX-CBT) for youth (gold-standard psychosocial treatment for pediatric anxiety) in Philadelphia's public mental health system. The mission of PATCH is threefold: (1) Provide high-quality mental health care to youth with anxiety and related disorders, (2) Train the next generation of practitioners in evidence-based assessment and treatment for pediatric anxiety and related disorders, and (3) Advance clinical research to enhance treatment effectiveness for pediatric anxiety and related disorders for a population with historically low representation in clinical trials. PATCH primarily serves Philadelphia Medicaid youth, and approximately half of youth served identify as racial or ethnic minorities.

A key goal of this position is to expand PATCH's capacity to provide language concordant care to non-native English language speaking children diagnosed with Selective Mutism and other anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders. This is a full-time clinical position focused on provision of evidence-based therapy services, although we are open to candidates who are interested in a part-time, rather than full-time, role. This individual will be expected to receive in-house training in exposure-based CBT, consistent with the PATCH treatment model, as well as use evidence-based assessment progress monitoring tools to guide their treatment practice. The individual also will support quality improvement efforts aimed at improving family engagement in services and increasing the cultural responsiveness of services provided. Opportunities to support community outreach efforts are available to interested and qualified candidates.

Qualifications

  • Master of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Applicants with an M.A., M.S., M.S.W., or related degree, with Exposure Therapy/CBT training and experience working with pediatric populations are encouraged to apply; experience delivering exposure therapy to youth with anxiety or OCD is a plus but not a requirement. License or license eligible in the state of PA required. Candidates who are fluent in Spanish or Mandarin are especially encouraged to apply.

This position is contingent upon grant funding.
