Course Instructor- Mechanical Engineering Project Management
The adjunct instructor is sought for teaching a course on Mechanical Engineering Project Management. The successful candidate will draw on substantial experience in engineering project environments to teach formal project management techniques used to initiate, plan, execute, monitor, control, and close out projects in industry. The course emphasizes application of project management tools to real or previously completed projects, with a strong focus on practical, team-based work and simulation of real-world constraints, challenges, and incentives.
You will guide students in developing a comprehensive, documented plan for an engineering project, addressing the ten knowledge areas of project management: integration, scope, time, cost, quality, human resources, communications, risk, procurement, and stakeholder management. You will also facilitate a project management simulation in which students assume roles such as project manager, functional/line manager, or project engineer, and lead discussions on special topics such as lean and agile methods, industry-specific practices, and pathways toward project management certification (e.g., PMP).
As Full-Time Instructor, you will be teaching Mechanical Engineering Project Management. You will be required to teach at each of the sessions for the course as listed on the College of Engineering academic calendar, as well as attend to any associated administrative, grading and related functions. Based on the experience of our part-time instructors, it is our expectation that you will devote an average of 10 hours per week for this course.
