VCU Police has an exciting opportunity for a Crime Intelligence Analyst to join our team! This role is responsible for managing the collection, analysis and dissemination of crime data working within broad policy and organizational guidelines, independently planning and implementing projects; and reporting progress of major activities through periodic conferences and meetings.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Analyze crime data and trends to support law enforcement decision-making and resource allocation
- Prepare detailed reports, maps, and statistical summaries for department leadership and patrol officers
- Monitor criminal activity patterns and identify emerging crime hotspots using GIS mapping software
- Conduct tactical and strategic analysis to assist with investigations and crime prevention initiatives
- Generate and distribute reports to aid administrative and operational personnel in planning resource deployment for prevention and suppression of criminal activity
- Assist Investigations Division in case development and resolution by integrating analysis through available technologies including closed circuit television systems and open-source information
- Respond to data requests from internal and external stakeholders
- Support special operations and community policing efforts through analytical products
- Attend meetings and conferences as needed
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must never have been convicted of a felony, crimes involving moral turpitude or domestic violence
- Must be available to work any shift
- Strong analytical, statistical, research and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in GIS mapping (ArcGIS or similar)
- Knowledge of NIBRS, Clery and UCR crime classification standards
- Understanding of intelligence led and community-oriented policing strategies
- Excellent written, visual and oral communication abilities
- Commitment to ethical use of data and protection of confidential information
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced university environment
- Familiarity with political social issues and ability to monitor, track and develop deliverables related to concerns surrounding the VCU environment
- Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as an employee at VCU
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, management or related field or equivalent combination of experience and training
- One or more years of experience in crime or intelligence analysis, research, or related data-driven roles
Salary Range: $30 - $35/hr
