Position Summary
California Baptist University, an evangelical Christian university affiliated with the California Southern Baptist Convention, invites applications for a full-time tenure track faculty position in Criminal Justice beginning August 2026.
The appointment includes teaching primarily in-person undergraduate level courses in criminal justice. Other duties include participation in departmental program assessment, student advising, and university and community service. The successful candidate will have the ability to conduct a research program that may involve undergraduate or graduate students. Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University and evidence a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching through the integration of the Christian faith and learning.
Pay Range
The compensation for this appointment will range from $78,000 – $85,000 annually and reflects what California Baptist University reasonably expects to pay for this faculty appointment. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications and experience of the applicant, as well as market conditions. In addition to wages, CBU offers a robust suite of employee benefits.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should possess a PhD in Criminal Justice or related field. Preference will be given to those with a history of quality teaching and notable research. Candidates must embrace the mission of California Baptist University and evidence a clear understanding of, and commitment to, excellence in teaching through the integration of the Christian faith and learning.
Teaching Responsibilities
Teaching responsibilities primarily include in-person undergraduate courses in Criminal Justice. Faculty will also contribute to the success of the department by participating in service including course-level and program-level assessment, student advising, and supporting department and University events.
