Cssn Grants And Financial Coordinator
The Grants and Financial Coordinator provides administrative pre/post-award and financial services to the Climate Social Science Network, housed in the Institute at Brown for Environment and Society. Assists in the preparation and review of all grant proposals for all department submissions using the Huron grant management system and sponsor submission portals. Coordinates the submission of new and continuing grant proposals and reports. Coordinates sponsored research funding by reviewing awards, ensuring compliance with award terms and conditions, providing guidance regarding sponsored project issues, budget management, expenditure review, financial reporting, and participation in training.
The position monitors grant-related finances and reconciles accounts in accordance with federal and nonfederal guidelines for the PIs. Effectively communicates award and financial policies to students, faculty, and staff. Uses Workday Financials to assist the Department in administering/approving payroll costing, salary reallocations, effort certifications, summer salary, cost shares, cost transfers, journal entries, financial reporting, subcontract requisitions, and expense approvals. This position handles confidential information and is expected to maintain and secure privacy.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education/experience. A degree in Accounting, Finance, Environmental Studies, Science, Economics, or Math is preferred.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), web-based programs and tools, Gmail and related Google applications (Google Docs, Sheets, Forms, and Slides), FileMaker, and Adobe Acrobat Pro
- Excellent math skills.
- Flexible, service-oriented and resourceful.
- Effective communication skills, both oral and written, to elicit and communicate information, to analyze data, and to prepare /present clear, informative, and concise materials.
- File management skills.
- Willingness and interest to continue learning.
- Ability to work under pressure in a deadline-oriented environment
100% grant-funded (fixed) position ending June 30, 2027, with the possibility of renewal depending upon the funding source.
