Performs tasks necessary to maintain the campus in a safe, clean and presentable condition in order to provide a comfortable learning and working environment for students and staff. Will perform duties and responsibilities in accordance with college policies and procedures. Supervises custodial staff. Manages supply inventory, ordering, and stocking. Ensures each building's custodial closets are kept organized and safe. Responsible for event set-ups, teardowns, and clean-up as needed. Required to respond to after-hours calls. Performs other duties as assigned.
Assigns custodial staff to designated buildings and supervises their activities. Job shadowing, spot checks, and verifying the cleaning performance of custodial staff.
Inventories, orders, and stores the necessary custodial department cleaning supplies while maintaining adequate stock to avoid running out before orders are delivered.
Supervises and trains custodial staff on equipment operation, chemical use and cleaning procedures.
Researches new custodial products and equipment and makes recommendations to the Facilities Management Director regarding their acquisition and implementation.
Makes regular inspection of assigned buildings in order to achieve and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and insures buildings are secure at the end of the work shift or when classes are dismissed.
Cleans restrooms, classrooms, hallways, lounges, dining areas, study areas and other areas. Work includes vacuuming, spot cleaning, carpet extracting, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, and burnishing floors; dusting and wiping surfaces; cleaning and sanitizing bathroom fixtures and drinking fountains; emptying trash cans; washing windows; cleaning furniture; changing bulbs and cleaning lenses, maintains recycling systems, etc.
Prepares classrooms for day and evening sessions by cleaning, arranging furniture, and completing other tasks as directed. Sets up and removes equipment and furniture needed for special activities on campus including after-hours and weekend events.
Responsible for keeping custodian equipment clean; changing filters, bags, belts, and containers when needed; and reporting safety concerns, equipment failures, maintenance needs and unusual incidents to your supervisor.
Serves as contact person for students and staff who need rooms locked or unlocked, equipment or supplies delivered, directions to campus locations, etc. and follows established procedures in reacting to emergency situations such as severe weather, power outages, physical violence, medical emergencies, etc.
Responsible to update SDS logs assigned to custodial department.

This is an evening position. Normal hours are Monday through Friday, 3pm to 11:30pm with some weekend work required on occasion.
