"Custodian I or II"

Custodian I:The position is responsible for maintaining clean and orderly facilities for students, faculty, staff and visitors. As part of a self-directed team, the position will take initiative to schedule cleaning and maintenance activities.

Duties may include:

• Perform basic cleaning, sanitization and trash collection in and around residences halls and university buildings
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies
• Notify occupants of cleaning and floor maintenance schedules
• Maintain clean and clear walkways, ensuring they are free of debris, litter, snow and ice
• Respond to emergencies and assist other departments when needed to ensure optimum service
• Ensure that assigned rooms and buildings are opened and locked as scheduled
• Assist with training new employees
• Other duties as assigned

Custodian II:The position is responsible for leading a team and promoting quality service. The position is tasked with covering other positions as needed, performing specialty area work and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction.

Duties may include:

• Perform basic cleaning, sanitization and trash collection in and around residences halls and university buildings
• Ensure that assigned areas remain organized
• Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies
• Notify occupants of cleaning and floor maintenance schedules
• Maintain clean and clear walkways, ensuring they are free of debris, litter, snow and ice
• Respond to emergencies and assist other departments when needed to ensure optimum service
• Communicate equipment/supplies problems and necessary building repairs to supervisors
• Ensure that all assigned rooms and buildings are opened and locked as scheduled
• Train new employees
• Other duties as assigned
