Custodian
Job Summary
Custodians at Recreation & Wellbeing are the guardians of our facilities and are key in creating welcoming and inclusive spaces. This position participates in the delivery of custodial services for Recreation & Wellbeing's facility services department, provides for the care and cleaning of the division's facilities and equipment, and ensures cleanliness, orderliness, and safety in assigned areas. Schedule consists of 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday with occasional weekend and event coverage.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Maintains clean and clear walkways to ensure they are free of debris, litter, snow, and ice
- Utilizes basic equipment and supplies to clean assigned facility areas and remove waste and recyclables
- Documents and reports repairs, violations, and pest control needs
- Maintains organization of supply areas and equipment, documents inventory, and requests additional supplies as needed
- Monitors and secures facility interior and exterior entrances and reports issues to appropriate entities
Tasks
- Report needed building repairs.
- Report security violations and/or suspicious activity.
- Report building system malfunctions.
- Remove posters, papers, and notices from prohibited areas.
- Assist and work with Rec Well Student Custodial Staff members.
- Attend Divisional Staff meetings and trainings.
- Participate in professional development, conferences, and trainings to advance professional knowledge.
- Pursue and maintain all necessary certifications related to job responsibilities (American Red Cross Adult CPR/FA/AED)
- Exercise flexibility to work evening or weekend hours, as needed.
- Perform additional tasks as directed.
Department: A80-RECREATION & WELLBEING/NICK CUSTODIAL or BAKKE CUSTODIAL
Compensation: Minimum $17.00 HOURLY. Depending on Qualifications. The starting salary for this position is $17.00 per hour but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications. We offer a competitive night differential of an additional $2.50 per hour when you work between 6:00pm and 6:00am.
Preferred Qualifications: 3 months of previous cleaning, custodial, hospitality, or related experience within an academic, commercial, or residential environment preferred.
Education: Preferred H.S. Diploma
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 4:00am - 12:30pm with flexibility to work some nights or weekends, as needed.
Appointment Type, Duration: Ongoing appointment.
