Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains sits one of the oldest community colleges in Colorado, Arapahoe Community College. With a rich history of educational excellence, ACC embraces a culture that values diversity, individualized support, and unwavering commitment to student success, without exception.
Job Summary
Colorado has a thriving data science and data analytics sector, which drives industries ranging from national security to healthcare. Our first data-focused faculty member will grow courses and academic pathways to prepare students for dynamic careers in a rapidly evolving data informed field. The Data/AI faculty will bring relevant industry or academic research experience into the classroom setting. The ideal faculty member will have expertise working with a range of data sets (unprocessed to processed and small to big) and will support the development of new programs in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) to meet the workforce demands of Colorado's data, space and advanced technology industries.
Arapahoe Community College (ACC) is seeking a full-time faculty member in Data Analytics, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence to lead the development and launch of a new Data Science Certificate scheduled to begin in Fall 2026. This position is intentionally designed as a curriculum-first role during the initial year and is ideal for candidates who thrive in building programs, navigating academic systems, and aligning innovation with workforce demand. ACC is committed to creating a community of best practices in facilitating teaching, learning, and student success. As such, we seek faculty who will be engaged members of the college community through active service on committees, collaboration with colleagues, and who possess a commitment and passion to facilitating improved outcomes for students and communities the college serves.
ACC is dedicated to supporting our faculty throughout their careers as educators, scholars, and professionals. We provide a robust offering of professional development opportunities for faculty to strengthen their skills in teaching strategies, outcomes-based practice, and reflective practice. Faculty develop an equity-minded and culturally responsive pedagogy that closes success gaps and fosters a commitment to excellence in education. Candidates with a foundational understanding of these skills and knowledge or a demonstrated growth mindset on these topics are strongly encouraged to apply.
Curriculum Governance and System Context
ACC is one of 13 colleges within the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). Curriculum development operates within a system-wide governance framework that includes standardized processes, discipline-level coordination, and multi-level approvals. The successful candidate must be willing and able to work within these structures, collaborate with faculty and administrators across the system, and meet defined milestones required to support a Fall 2026 program launch.
Program Development Scope and Pace
This role operates on an accelerated development timeline. The faculty member will manage multiple curriculum deliverables simultaneously, including course design, pathway mapping, and alignment with workforce and industry partners. Candidates must be comfortable working at a rapid pace, balancing strategic design with execution, and meeting firm deadlines. This position will actively contribute to the refinement, expansion, and continuous improvement of approved pathways in response to workforce needs and emerging technologies.
Responsibilities
- Lead curriculum development for the Data Science Certificate and/or degrees, including course design, sequencing, and learning outcomes.
- Coordinate curriculum review and approval processes within ACC and across CCCS.
- Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and external partners to ensure industry-aligned curriculum.
- Support the development of additional credentials such as AI-related certificates or micro-credentials.
- Transition into teaching responsibilities as programs launch and mature.
- Participate in service activities consistent with full-time faculty expectations at ACC
Who Will Thrive in This Role
This position is best suited for candidates who enjoy building programs from the ground up, working within academic governance structures, and prioritizing long-term program success over immediate classroom teaching. Candidates seeking a primarily teaching-focused role in their first semester may find this position less aligned with their expectations.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in data science, data analytics, computer science, information systems, or a closely related field; OR Master's degree in any field with 18 graduate or undergraduate credit hours in a related discipline; OR Bachelor's degree with significant, relevant industry experience as permitted by the ACC Faculty Qualifications Manual.
- Eligibility for a CTE credential in the discipline.
- Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, or applied industry practice in data or AI-related fields.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple concurrent deliverables.
Preferred
- Industry or applied research experience in data science, artificial intelligence, or advanced analytics.
- Experience working within multi-institutional or system-level academic environments.
- Comfort operating in fast-paced, build-oriented roles.
- Experience developing courses for multiple delivery modalities.
