Data & Insights Manager
About this role
We’re looking for a brilliant self-starter who can establish and lead the Institute’s data capability, ensuring that data is accurate, accessible and used effectively to inform decision-making.
This is a pivotal role focused on transforming data into meaningful insight. You’ll be responsible for developing dashboards, producing high-quality reporting, and working with senior leaders to provide clear, actionable intelligence across the organisation.
Key responsibilities
- Extract, analyse and interpret data from institutional systems
- Develop and maintain dashboards and management information reporting
- Translate complex datasets into clear insights, trends and recommendations
- Support senior leadership with data-driven decision-making
- Improve data quality, consistency and reporting standards across the Institute
- Work with stakeholders to define reporting needs and deliver fit-for-purpose outputs
- Identify patterns, risks and opportunities within data to inform strategy and operations
- Produce regular and ad hoc reports for operational and strategic use
- Support survey design, analysis and interpretation where required
- Contribute to the development of a strong data-informed culture
About you
You’ll be analytical, curious, and able to see beyond the data to the story of the insights gained, and how to turn them into meaningful and impactful actions. You’ll be comfortable working independently and influencing stakeholders through clear, evidence-based insight.
You will have:
- Experience in a data, analytics or business intelligence role
- Strong skills in data analysis, manipulation and interpretation
- Experience developing dashboards and reports (e.g. Power BI, Tableau or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets
- Ability to communicate insights clearly to non-technical audiences
- Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to data
It would be great if you also bring:
- Experience in higher education or a similarly regulated environment
- Experience using SQL or other data querying tools
- Understanding of data governance, data quality frameworks and KPI reporting
