Job Summary
Provide district-wide strategic leadership, vision, and oversight for DMACC’s comprehensive high school partnerships and programs. Serve as the primary liaison between DMACC Academic Affairs, K–12 superintendents and district leaders, regional center leadership, and external agencies to ensure coordinated delivery of academic, career-connected, life skills, employment, and transitional educational experiences that support student success, workforce readiness, and equitable access across the DMACC district.
Essential Functions
Provide districtwide executive leadership, philosophy, and strategic vision for all high school partnerships and programming. Serve as the primary DMACC liaison with K-12 superintendents, district leadership, the Iowa Department of Education, AEAs, and external partners. Ensure understanding of requirements and curricular objectives of high school partnerships and programming.
Provide leadership, including communications, marketing, and outreach, for initiatives in alignment with Department of Education and accreditation requirements and support staff with their outreach endeavors. This includes, but is not limited to SY Plus, Career Academies, regional educational centers, Youth Consortium and Special Education programs, including STRIVE and STRIVE Academy.
Supervise department staff; recommend personnel actions related to hiring, firing, compensation, performance evaluation, individual development plans, training, leave, discipline, grievances, work schedules and assignments; administer personnel and related policies and procedures, collective bargaining agreements and the EEO/AA plan. Supervise and provide leadership to regional center directors; collaborate with Academic Deans on faculty oversight.
Lead financial and operational policy; develop, manage, and oversee budgets and resources. Seek, secure, and manage grants and external funding to support program sustainability and innovation. Develop, negotiate, and maintain Educational Service Agreements (ESAs) and other partnership agreements. Serve as liaison with Workforce Development and the Workforce Learning Center for work-based learning.
Provide college-wide service by participating in committees and secondary-level support for student conduct issues.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in education, educational administration, higher education, or a related field.
- Five years of administrative experience in secondary-postsecondary partnerships or academic administration, including two years in leadership role.
- Demonstrated excellent communication and human relation skills.
- Demonstrated competency in strategic planning.
- Demonstrated competency in budget planning and management, including grants.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, manage, coordinate, and supervise a broad and varied range of activities and people.
- Demonstrated ability to promote collaboration, teamwork, and partnerships with internal and external constituents.
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the comprehensive community college philosophy.
- Knowledge of state law and Department of Education policy as it relates to K-12 and community colleges.
- Knowledge of software applications.
Desired Qualifications
- Graduate work beyond master’s degree in education, higher education, or related field.
- Previous community college administrative experience, at the dean or executive level.
- Previous senior-level leadership experience in secondary–postsecondary partnerships or academic administration.
- Experience with accreditation and grant-funded program development.
- Experience leading career academies, Youth at Risk, or Special Education partnerships.
