Design and Construction Operations Coordinator

GENERAL JOB SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, the Design and Construction Operations Coordinator provides comprehensive administrative and operational support to the Design and Construction Department within the Facilities and Public Safety Division at Kirkwood Community College. This position plays a critical role in facilitating the coordination and execution of capital projects, working closely with internal departments and external stakeholders. The coordinator is expected to exercise a high degree of independent judgment, demonstrating exceptional organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills. A strong commitment to customer service is essential, particularly when assisting departments with capital project requests. The ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and maintain composure in high-pressure or emergency situations is crucial to success in this role. The typical work schedule for this position will be Monday through Friday from 8 am to 5 pm.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with the Campus Architect on both short-term and long-term construction and campus planning projects.
- Independently manage small-scale renovation projects, including capital improvement initiatives, with minimal oversight.
- Maintain and organize the construction document warehouse, including both hard copies and digital files such as construction materials, O&M documents, and architectural drawings.
- Coordinate the college's campus signage needs, including maintaining the signage inventory, planning and budgeting for new signage, working with signage vendors, and ensuring compliance with current signage standards.
- Serve as a key liaison with contractors and vendors, ensuring clear communication to maintain project timelines and budgets.
- Produce, edit, and compile reports, correspondence, presentations, and other documentation as needed.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the college's construction standards and documentation protocols.
- Understand and manage project budgets, ensuring responsible fiscal oversight of assigned projects.
- Coordinate college personnel move requests, supporting the logistical needs of departmental relocations or space reconfigurations.
- Assist with sustainability initiatives, particularly in support of the college's 2024 Climate Action Plan.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of department and college goals.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES WITH/WITHOUT REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION
Position involves Constant (67-100%) sitting in an office, as well as talking on the telephone and in person, hearing repetitive motion, viewing computer screen and other kinds of close visual work. Frequent (34-66%) walking, standing, and grasping. Occasional (10-33%) reaching, lifting, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pushing, pulling, and exertion of up to 20 pounds.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Associate's degree plus 1-3 years' experience
- Computer skills, knowledge of standard computer software and office equipment required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS
- Bachelor's degree plus 1-3 years' design and construction experience preferred
- Use of Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Sketchup and/or Revit preferred
- Construction Industry experience preferred
