The Opportunity:
We are looking for a Digital Safety Support Officer to lead on the development of the digital safety, wellbeing and citizenship network and strategy, provide online safeguarding advice (including safe and ethical use of Generative AI tools), and develop and deliver digital safety training for University staff and students.
This post is full-time (35 hours per week) on a fixed term contract for 12 months. However, we are open to considering part-time or flexible working patterns. Colleagues are required to work a minimum of two days per week on campus. The post holder’s office is in central Edinburgh, and this is the primary work location. The post holder will be required to facilitate in-person events at various locations across the University of Edinburgh campus.
Your skills and attributes for success:
- A good understanding of digital safety including issues such as bullying and harassment, equality and diversity, online scams and ethical implications of AI tools.
- Ability and confidence to network amongst students and staff.
- Skills in searching for, discovering, evaluating and collating information.
- Evidence of excellent written and verbal communication skills and standards of customer care.
- A talent for planning and coordinating learning events and supporting materials.
