Essential Job Functions

  • Provide strategic leadership for the University’s adult education programs, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and adult learner needs.
  • Oversee daily program operations, including supervising staff, coordinating schedules, and ensuring delivery of high-quality instructional and support services.
  • Lead program planning and development to strengthen curriculum, instructional practices, and learner outcomes.
  • Manage all grant activities, including preparing proposals, submitting required reports, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and funder requirements.
  • Develop and administer program budgets to ensure responsible fiscal management and effective resource allocation.
  • Monitor program performance using data collection and analysis, and prepare quarterly reports for the Provost to inform strategic improvements.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with workforce agencies, community organizations, and educational institutions to support program expansion and student success.
  • Represent the program at local, state, and national meetings, conferences, and professional development activities.
  • Implement recruitment, retention, and support strategies that promote equitable access and enhance adult learner success.
  • Perform personnel management functions, including interviewing, hiring, evaluating, supervising, and coaching staff to sustain a productive, high-performing team.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify program gaps, guide improvement efforts, and inform resource allocation.
  • Other related duties, as assigned.

Qualifications

Education:

  • Master’s degree in Adult Education, Education, Education Leadership, Public Administration, Workforce Development, or a closely related field.
  • Doctoral degree in a related field, preferred.

Experience:

  • Minimum of (3) to five (5) years of progressive experience in adult education, workforce development, continuing education, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of administrative leadership experience in adult education, preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in program administration, including planning, implementation, evaluation, and staff supervision.
  • Experience with grant writing and grant management, including compliance and reporting.
  • Experience and training in distance learning and online instruction.
  • Experience in higher education or community-based adult learning environments is preferred.
  • Proven success in developing new programs or expanding existing adult or workforce education initiatives is preferred.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Comprehensive knowledge of adult education principles and practices, including adult learning theory, and high-impact instructional strategies.
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations governing adult education, including compliance, reporting, and accountability requirements.
  • Understanding of grant management, budgeting processes, and resource allocation in educational settings.
  • Knowledge of data collection and analysis methods to evaluate program outcomes, performance metrics, and continuous improvement strategies.
  • Familiarity with community partnerships, workforce agencies, and educational support services that enhance adult learning.
  • Strategic planning and program development skills with the ability to design, implement, and evaluate effective adult education programs.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal, and interpersonal communication, are needed for stakeholder engagement and grant development.
  • Leadership and supervisory skills for managing staff, guiding teams, and fostering a collaborative, high-performance work environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data, assess program needs, and make informed decisions.
  • Experience in using Student Information Systems (Banner, EAB Navigate 360, Slate, etc.)
  • Budgeting and financial management skills, including experience with grant budgeting, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring fiscal accountability.
  • Project management skills to oversee multiple program components, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Ability to align program goals with institutional priorities and broader workforce development initiatives.
  • Ability to build and maintain partnerships with community organizations, employers, and educational agencies to support program growth.
  • Ability to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, funder requirements, and reporting standards (e.g., FERPA, Title IX, Clery Act, etc.).
  • Ability to adapt to evolving educational needs and implement innovative practices that support adult learner success.
  • Ability to manage and analyze data systems to track outcomes, inform decision-making, and demonstrate program effectiveness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations, including adult learners, faculty, administrators, and external partners.
