Job Summary:
One of the most distinguishing features of Bowdoin is the generous enthusiasm of alumni, families, and friends.The Director of Alumni Engagement for Affinity Connections leads efforts to strengthen alumni bonds through affinity-based programs. Reporting to the Vice President of Alumni Relations and Information Systems with strong dotted line to the Senior Vice President of Development and Alumni Relations (DAR), this role manages day-to-day support for affinity networks and develops programming that promotes personal and professional development and connection with the assistance of the Affinity Programs Associate. The Director partners with alumni stakeholders, volunteer leaders, and campus colleagues to advance inclusion and belonging while cultivating meaningful and enduring engagement with the College.
The successful candidate will be motivated by Bowdoin's mission and will have a high degree of cultural competency.
The hiring range for this position is expected to be: $92,000 - $105,000.

Education/Skills Requirements:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5-9 years experience in alumni relations or volunteer management for a college or university required.
- Must be able to work independently and in a team environment.
- Must have exceptional communication skills and an ability to connect with multiple constituencies (alumni, parents, students, volunteers, and staff)
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
- Proficient in using computer software including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), database management systems, email platforms, and virtual event platforms.
Experience Requirements and/or Equivalents:
- Professional experience in higher education required, ideally within alumni relations or development administration. An understanding of the culture at a small, highly selective liberal arts college preferred.
- Demonstrated experience with writing and editing content with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, particularly in written communication.
- Event management experience, both in-person and virtual.
- Ability to positively navigate around complex issues with Bowdoin alumni.
- Interest in serving as a thought partner and leader in affinity programming and developing opportunities for alumni engagement through professional and personal development activities.

Standard Work Days and Hours:
Typically Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm with occasional evening and weekends as needed. This is an exempt level position that requires the time commitment to complete the essential duties of the position.
