Director of Annual Giving
The Director of Annual Giving is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating a comprehensive annual giving program to secure support for the institution. This position plays a critical role in building a sustainable base of annual donors while cultivating prospects for major and planned gifts. This position will report directly to the Vice President of University Advancement.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with CRM systems and fundraising databases.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s Degree.
- Banner Knowledge.
- Previous Supervisory Experience.
Specific Duties:
- Maintain a portfolio of 75 annual giving prospects for qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship to move prospects into major donors. Percentage of Time: 25%
- Develop and execute a comprehensive annual giving strategy with specific goals, timelines, and measurable outcomes. Design and implement multi-channel fundraising campaigns utilizing crowd funding, direct mail, email, digital media, phone, and in-person solicitations. Establish annual fundraising goals and metrics in collaboration with advancement leadership. Monitor performance against benchmarks and provide regular reports to leadership. Manage the annual giving budget effectively. Percentage of Time: 20%
- Create compelling donor communications and solicitation materials. Implement donor recognition programs that acknowledge gifts at various levels. Develop targeted strategies for specific donor segments (alumni, parents, faculty/staff, etc.). Design stewardship initiatives to retain and upgrade donors including the 1891 and Green & Orange Societies. Percentage of Time: 20%
- Supervise annual giving staff including training, mentoring, and performance evaluations. Collaborate with other internal and external departments (major gifts, planned giving, alumni engagement, donor relations, advancement services, and athletics). Partner with marketing/communications team on messaging and branding. Work closely with advancement services on data management and reporting. Percentage of Time: 20%
- Leverage donor database to identify giving patterns and opportunities. Analyze campaign results to refine strategies and improve ROI. Use market research and industry benchmarks to inform program development. Generate reports on annual giving metrics and outcomes. Percentage of Time: 10%
- Complete other assignments as assigned by the Vice President. Percentage of Time: 5%
Salary Range
Maximum: $100,000
Minimum: $96,800
