Director of Athletics & Student Life
The Director of Student Life and Athletics develops, directs, and assesses all co-curricular programs and services which support the academic mission and educational outcomes of the College. Reporting to the Dean of Student Affairs, this position is responsible for supervising all staff, facilities, and finances related to student development, student government, student organizations and leadership, student programming, student center, college athletics and related wellness programming on the Thief River Falls campus. The Director serves as the Northland Community Technical College Athletic Director.
Incumbent will serve as Northland’s Athletic Director for Intercollegiate Athletics. Supervise Staff in the following units: Thief River Falls Student Government, Thief River Falls Student Clubs and Organizations, and Athletics. Determine and control the fiscal affairs of the Thief River Falls Student Life department which encompasses student government, student clubs and organizations, college athletics, facility and service contracting, and partnership agreements and/or grant funded or other projects. Coordinate and manage all aspects of athletic event operations. Oversee the College’s Student Government and leadership activities and processes for the Thief River Falls campus. Implement, direct and assess overall effectiveness of the Student Life programs and services and initiate changes when needed. Lead and implement strategic fundraising initiatives to support athletics and student life programming at Northland.
Salary Range: $70,178 - $101,602 salary; $33.61 - $48.66 Hourly.
Minimum Qualifications: Three (3) years of related work experience in athletic administration, co-curricular activities and/or a related student affairs area. Excellent communication skills including verbal, written, and interpersonal. Demonstrated supervisory experience. Demonstrated success in utilizing effective conflict resolution strategies. Understanding, sensitivity, and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students and a belief in the ability of every person to be a successful learner. Experience with budget development and management. Experience with facilities/event management.
Preferred Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree or higher from an accredited college or university. Experience working with intercollegiate athletics and knowledge of NJCAA/MCAC. Coaching experience. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Knowledge of Title IX laws and regulations. Must submit a cover letter resume.
Other Requirements: In accordance with the Minnesota State Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, employees driving on college/university business who use a rental or state vehicle shall be required to conform to Minnesota State's vehicle use criteria and consent to a Motor Vehicle Records check. Work Shift (Hours / Days of work): Days: M-F, occasional evenings weekends for events. Telework: No.
