Major responsibilities include:
- Technology evaluation & intellectual property
management
- Deal sourcing, negotiations & execution
The Director must demonstrate expertise in technology evaluation,
intellectual property (IP) protection, and the sourcing,
negotiation, and execution of transactions across life sciences
fields such as therapeutics, diagnostics, and health information
technology.
Education and Experience
- Advanced degree required (MD and/or PhD preferred)
- Ideally, a minimum 10 years of experience in academic research,
business development, innovation management, or technology
commercialization.
- Experience working with or within academic medical centers is a
plus.
Job Competencies
- Strong aptitude in patent prosecution and a genuine interest in
early-stage technologies and emerging markets.
- Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication
skills to convey complex technical, legal, and financial
concepts.
- Deep understanding of licensing structures, valuation models,
and negotiation strategies for IP and sponsored research
agreements.
- Well-developed network of investors, entrepreneurs, and
business development professionals in the life sciences
sector.
- Ability to work independently, analyze complex policy issues,
and follow through with minimal oversight.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and
external constituencies across all organizational levels.
- While this role is hybrid, there is an expectation that the
Director will be in-person a minimum of 2-3 days per week.
