Director of Compliance/Title IX Coordinator
Serves as the principal institutional official responsible for developing, coordinating and overseeing institutional compliance programs for all federal, state and local laws and regulations applicable to the College, including compliance with civil rights laws such as the Civil Rights Act of 1964,Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (Title IX), the Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act (VAWA), and Americans with Disabilities Act/Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973.
This position also serves as the Title IX Coordinator for the College and is responsible for carrying out, monitoring and oversight of the Title IX grievance process at the College, coordination of training, education, communications, and the administration of complaint procedures and educating the entire college community about the protections provided for a welcoming and inclusive campus.
- Oversees the College's compliance with rules, regulations and orders applicable to institutions of higher education.
- Serves as the College's Title IX Coordinator.
- Remains current on rules, regulations, case law and developments applicable to the College (including but not limited to those pertaining to anti-discrimination, hazing, privacy, disability and pregnancy accommodation, Clery Act, FERPA) and works with college administration to ensure constant compliance with all such requirements.
- Works with General Counsel and College administration to develop and monitor College policies, procedures and guidelines involving compliance with applicable statutes, regulations, administrative orders, and best practices.
- Develops, oversees and maintains processes for addressing, investigating and resolving complaints/reports of illegal discrimination, harassment, hazing, sexual violence and other related allegations of misconduct.
- Ensures that the College's response to complaints/reports are adequate, reliable, timely, impartial and compliant with applicable statutes, regulations and administrative orders.
- Keeps affected parties and appropriate administration apprised of the existence and status of complaints.
- Leads campus-wide training, prevention and awareness programs related to anti-discrimination and compliance programs.
- Coordinates supportive measures for students and employees.
- Monitors and investigates college policies, programs and scholarship offerings to ensure compliance with Title IX and other anti-discrimination statutes, rules and regulations.
- Coordinates and/or conducts investigations in response to alleged civil rights violations.
- Works with administrators on proposed remedies for discriminatory behavior, harassment and misconduct to ensure the remedies are reasonably calculated to stop the misconduct and prevent its recurrence.
- Works collaboratively with Student Services, General Counsel and the College's Deputy Title IX Coordinators to ensure informed and consistent communication in policy implementation.
- Works with outside counsel and General Counsel in response to lawsuits and administrative complaints.
- Coordinate and collaborate with General Counsel to draft policy updates and communications to the Title IX Policy based on federal guidance and regulations, including but not limited to information requirements for the College's Title IX website and print-based publications ensuring information and resources are available and properly displayed per federal regulations.
- Conduct research projects assigned by College leadership, including General Counsel and the Associate Vice President Human Resources.
- Coordinate and assist in protections associated with pregnancy, childbirth, false pregnancy, termination of pregnancy, or recovery from any of these conditions, including lactation needs, covered until Title IX, Title VII and the PUSH act.
- Participate in ongoing training specific to Title IX to stay current on sex-based discrimination cases including implicit bias training, investigation training, coordinator training, and/or other training stipulated by federal regulations to stay informed about Title IX requirements.
- Utilize the appropriate documentation, record keeping and grievance process timelines in accordance with the Title IX Policy.
- Provide oversight and direction to the Deputy Title IX Coordinators, Title IX Advisors, Title IX Hearing Officers/Decision Makers, and the Title IX Appellate Officers, including adherence to federal training requirements for all parties as it relates to Title IX training.
- Persons in this role are identified as Campus Security Authority (CSA). CSA's will be trained and responsible for reporting Clery Reportable Crimes to Campus Police as required by the Clery Act.
- Provides and/or coordinates mediation or restorative practices, as needed.
- Other duties as assigned.
Master's degree in relevant discipline or equivalent training/experience.
