Course Placement and Testing Coordinator /MnSCU Academic Professional 1
Position Purpose
This position exists to oversee the daily functions of course placement and testing center. This includes the administration, collection, scoring, and interpretation of self-guided placement and multiple measures, instructor-arranged tests, and any special testing the College provides in the Testing Center. The individual in this position will maintain the testing database and statistics. This person is also responsible for communication to students and other stakeholders via web pages, voice, and email, regarding course placement and the Testing Center.
The primary purpose of this professional position is to test, advise, and guide current and prospective students with placement information and testing results. This position will have expert knowledge of state and MinnState rules and regulations to maintain the integrity of testing and school policies. This position will provide clear, understandable guidance to students and staff on all testing-related information. To do this, the incumbent will attend annual training to maintain current certification, maintain current working knowledge of testing requirements of self-guided placement and other exams, providing guidance to students to resolve problems and overcome barriers under limited supervision. It maintains relationships with students, college departments, and faculty and has knowledge of the college’s goals and objectives so that office activities are consistent with the overall educational program.
Position Responsibilities
- Administers Placement Process for the College and Coordinate High School Transcripts
- Administers testing for the College, including program specific tests and instructor arranged makeup test.
- Maintain daily operations of the Testing Center
Salary Range
$23.98 - $34.69/hour (DOQ – Salary Placement will be done at time of hire.)
Minimum Qualifications
- Two years’ experience in college student personnel, higher education, or related field; an associate’s degree may substitute for 6 months experience, a bachelor’s degree may substitute for 1-year professional experience, a master’s degree may substitute for 1.5 years’ professional experience.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills in individual and group settings via phone, email and in person and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- The ability to plan, be highly organized, make decisions, and communicate information accurately and independently.
- Demonstrated Technology skills sufficient to use computer software applications and systems to manage eform placement process and Microsoft Office 365 skills to create, modify, and manage spreadsheets and communicate through a shared email account.
- Data entry skills sufficient to enter information and application data in the enrollment management system accurately and efficiently to meet deadlines.
- Experience working with constituents from diverse and traditionally underserved backgrounds and with varied needs.
Preferred Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Project management experience
- Prior experience as a lead worker or demonstrated progressive experience
- Previous experience working in higher education, specifically in Admissions, Testing Center, Course Placement, Academic Advising, Transfer Student Services, or Registration.
- Knowledge of computer systems used in Minnesota State such as ISRS, ImageNow, or similar programs to look up student records.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures and guidelines set by Minnesota State and Century College and the ability to apply to individual situations.
