Director of Engineering

The Engineering Department at Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time, on-campus position as Director of Engineering, beginning August 2026. Schreiner’s ABET-accredited Engineering program, launched in Fall 2022, offers tracks in Mechanical and Civil Engineering and integrates a strong liberal arts foundation with rigorous technical training. We seek an individual with a strong commitment to undergraduate education, and leadership potential to continue to develop and grow this new program.

Responsibilities:

• Teach 9 credit hours per semester in courses such as Engineering Graphics, Statics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Senior Design Project.
• Serve as the Director of Engineering in overseeing and supporting a growing and recently ABET-accredited Engineering program. The Director will work closely with colleagues, division and university leadership, on curricula, scheduling, personnel, and other operational and strategic initiatives for the Engineering program.
• Mentor students in undergraduate research, design competitions, and capstone projects.
• Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement aligned with ABET standards.
• Engage in service through committee work, academic advising, and community outreach.
• Foster experiential learning through Student Design Lab, internships, and industry partnerships.

Qualifications:

• Earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or closely related field by July 2026; ABD considered.
• Evidence of effective teaching and commitment to student-centered learning.
• Ability to support interdisciplinary collaboration and project-based learning.

Preferred:

• Experience with ABET accreditation processes.
• Background in hands-on design and applied research suitable for a primarily undergraduate institution.
• Previous experience in leading academic areas.
