Director of Engineering
The Engineering Department at Schreiner University in Kerrville, TX invites applications for a tenure-track, full-time, on-campus position as Director of Engineering, beginning August 2026. Schreiner’s ABET-accredited Engineering program, launched in Fall 2022, offers tracks in Mechanical and Civil Engineering and integrates a strong liberal arts foundation with rigorous technical training. We seek an individual with a strong commitment to undergraduate education, and leadership potential to continue to develop and grow this new program.
Responsibilities:
- Teach 9 credit hours per semester in courses such as Engineering Graphics, Statics, Dynamics, Thermodynamics, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, and Senior Design Project.
- Serve as the Director of Engineering in overseeing and supporting a growing and recently ABET-accredited Engineering program. The Director will work closely with colleagues, division and university leadership, on curricula, scheduling, personnel, and other operational and strategic initiatives for the Engineering program.
- Mentor students in undergraduate research, design competitions, and capstone projects.
- Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement aligned with ABET standards.
- Engage in service through committee work, academic advising, and community outreach.
- Foster experiential learning through Student Design Lab, internships, and industry partnerships.
Qualifications:
- Earned doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or closely related field by July 2026; ABD considered.
- Evidence of effective teaching and commitment to student-centered learning.
- Ability to support interdisciplinary collaboration and project-based learning.
Preferred:
- Experience with ABET accreditation processes.
- Background in hands-on design and applied research suitable for a primarily undergraduate institution.
- Previous experience in leading academic areas.
