Job Description

Great Basin College invites collaborative, student-centered nursing leaders to apply for the role of Director of Nursing. This is an exciting opportunity to guide high-quality nursing education across multiple programs and locations, support dedicated faculty, and shape the future of nursing within our rural communities. The Director of Nursing provides leadership and oversight for the Associate of Applied Science (AAS) Nursing Program, Certified Nursing Assistant Program, and the online RN-BSN Program, supervising faculty across Elko, Winnemucca, Ely, and Pahrump. The role ensures compliance with ACEN accreditation standards and reporting requirements for the Nevada State Board of Nursing. The Director collaborates closely with faculty, staff, and college leadership to support student success, maintain program quality, and promote the mission of Great Basin College.

This position is based on the Elko campus and may require travel to additional GBC Centers and for state or national meetings.

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD or DNP preferred; Master's Degree in Nursing from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Current RN license in the state of Nevada or eligibility to be licensure in the state of Nevada.
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a registered nurse.
  • At least 5 years of higher education experience.
  • Experience with programmatic accreditation and/or licensure with state agencies.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with curriculum development and assessment.

Preferred:

  • College teaching and academic administration experience.
  • Proven leadership in faculty and staff supervision.
  • Proven strong relationships with healthcare agencies and community partners.
  • Experience managing student enrollment and retention initiatives.
  • Experience with budget and fiscal management.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the AAS Nursing, CNA, and RN-BSN programs.
  • Supervise and support nursing faculty; coordinate faculty recruitment, onboarding, and professional development.
  • Oversee course scheduling, staffing, and delivery to ensure high-quality learning experiences.
  • Manage program budgets and allocate resources effectively.
  • Ensure compliance with ACEN accreditation standards and Nevada State Board of Nursing regulations.
  • Lead systematic program evaluation, planning, and assessment processes.
  • Support curriculum development and continuous improvement across programs.
  • Promote student success through recruitment, advising support, and resolution of academic or clinical issues.
  • Foster partnerships with healthcare agencies and represent GBC at state and national nursing meetings.
  • Collaborate with college leadership on strategic planning, enrollment management, and community outreach.
  • Assist with marketing and outreach for nursing programs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean of Health Sciences & Behavioral Health.

Compensation Grade

Administrative Faculty - D

This is a 12 month "A" contract position, 12 month contracts are used for year round programs.

The budgeted salary range for this position is $86,000 - $115,000

Salary is based on relatable education and experience, internal equity and budgets.
