Description

The School of Professional Studies seeks a seasoned Director of Professional and Executive Education to plan, develop, and execute a portfolio of professional development programs for healthcare and life sciences professionals. This is a unique opportunity to build and grow a portfolio, implementing a newly defined strategy launching new B2C programs and expanding B2B partnerships. This position involves a mix of strategic thinking, project management, and hands-on execution and is part of a high-performing, collaborative team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, plan and implement a portfolio of education programs delivered to working professionals through a variety of in-person and online learning formats.
  • Expand the portfolio through a mixture of B2C and B2B offerings.
  • Manage existing corporate clients and support efforts to develop new relationships.
  • Determine content needs for various audiences ranging from soft skills, leadership development, interprofessional practice, business, or technical skills.
  • Interview, hire and work collaboratively with part-time faculty and speakers to develop industry-focused programs.
  • Build highly interactive offerings with content that can be applied immediately into professions and networking opportunities.
  • Incorporate adult learning theory, cutting edge simulations and AI technology into programs.
  • Cultivate strong relationships and provide coaching to adjunct faculty and speakers.
  • Work with marketing to implement promotional campaigns for program offerings.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to deliver polished and professional events.
  • Track and manage expenses to appropriate budgets.
  • Work collaboratively with School of Professional Studies staff, faculty, program directors, and University Advancement.
  • Oversee compliance with continuing education accreditation bodies, including Massachusetts Medical Society, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) and others.
  • Guide and advise faculty members and speakers regarding content development, assessment, and accreditation compliance.
  • Generate narrative and statistical reports as required by leadership and accrediting bodies.
  • Design procedures and administer educational program evaluation instruments to assess and analyze program effectiveness.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

Education and Work Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5–8+ years of experience in professional/executive education, workforce development, corporate training, or a related field.
  • Experience developing, launching, or managing professional development, certificate, or executive education programs.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple programs and timelines simultaneously.
  • Experience working with external partners such as employers, industry organizations, or community partners.
  • Excellent relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience delivering both in-person and online educational experiences
    * Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to build new initiatives, programs, or partnerships.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • A valid driver's license.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree.
  • Experience developing employer or industry partnerships.
  • Experience with program budgeting, pricing, or revenue targets.
  • Ability to identify market needs and translate them into new programs.
  • Experience with contract training or custom programs.
  • Experience with continuing education accreditation process for healthcare fields (e.g., ACPE, ACCME).
  • Comfort serving as host/emcee in front of large audiences

Physical Requirements:

  • Typical office and event management working conditions.
  • Ability to stand and walk around for several hours while managing events.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and/or weekends in support of program delivery.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Work requires the ability to travel to campus and program delivery sites by car or public transportation.

Compensation:

The pay range associated with this posting reflects the amount the University reasonably expects to pay for this role at this time. Salary offers are determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications as well as internal equity, market data and pay in comparison to similarly situated employees doing comparable work.

Hiring Range: $110,700-$124,100/year
