Job Summary
Serves as the Chief Compliance Officer in administering and managing all areas of research integrity at the university. Establishes University policies and procedures for research-related non-financial compliance. Supervises critical research activities with respect to Institutional Review Board (IRB)/Human Subject Protection Program, Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), biohazards, radiation safety, and lab operational safety procedures, federal Financial Conflict of Interest (FCoI), funded research misconduct, and research-related aspects of research security/export control. Ensures timely and accurate reporting to all federal agencies and other sponsors as required.
Establishes and evaluates internal policies and procedures embedding institutional expectations and responsibilities to ensure compliance activities are incorporated into routine higher education practices. Promotes and monitors compliance with rules and regulations by developing, implementing, updating, and maintaining campus policies and procedures. Supervises and evaluates Research Integrity staff.
Responsibilities
- Advise University regarding non-financial research compliance issues and areas of vulnerability
- Oversee the Office of Research and Economic Development Research Integrity team of professionals and support staff whose responsibilities include addressing areas of research related risk, policy and non-financial compliance
- Provide mechanisms for review and approval for research protocols in compliance with federal requirements for human subjects, animal care and use and biosafety, contracts, compliance agreements, assurances related to non-financial research compliance and investigations related to funded research misconduct
- Provide guidance, information and education to researchers, faculty, staff, students and administrators regarding interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements including all areas of non-financial research compliance
- Act as a liaison for university faculty, staff, administrators, and legal counsel to interpret and resolve research compliance issues
- Coordinate and monitor changes in existing compliance requirements and develop responses to newly imposed requirements
- Provide support and assistance to the VPRED and other divisions of the Director of Research Integrity Office of Research on special projects and reports

Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
Six (6) or more years of related work experience

Direct experience leading a university research compliance team
Proposed Salary
$80,000 - $100,000
This is an exempt position paid on a monthly basis.
